Sample Production Agreements

As with recording contracts, production contracts are intended almost without exception to prevent the artist from recording a recorded song during the term of an exclusive agreement for a period after the end of that contract. The reason for this restriction is obvious, as it could be very commercially damaging to the record company if an artist were free to duplicate all his appearances on recordings made during the production company in recordings made after the duration of the contract for another record company. However, the artist should endeavor to limit the effect of the restriction to recordings published during the lifetime or in a short period of time therefor. .
