Swift Power Corp. – an independent hydroelectric company based in Vancouver, B.C. – has been awarded a long-term power purchase agreement (EPA) by BC Hydro for the Dasque Cluster hydroelectric project. The 20 MW project is located 25 km southwest of Terrace, B.C., and is expected to enter service by the end of 2012 (subject to required regulatory approvals and funding). “We look forward to helping the province achieve its climate change goals and energy self-sufficiency mandate by producing clean and reliable energy from the Dasque Cluster Facility,” said Alexi Zawadzki, President and CEO of Swift Power. Following the implementation of the EPO, BC Hydro will submit it to the BC Utilities Commission for review. In the meantime, the company will publish the necessary performance guarantees, both for epa BC Hydro and for the BCTC Interconnection Agreement, in accordance with the required schedule. In the coming months, Swift Power will finalize the selection of an engineering office to continue the detailed engineering of the Dasque Cluster project and select a contractor.
